Marcus Riley, Web Development Manager for NBC5, has more than 15 years of experience in television journalism.
After graduating from West Virginia University in 1992, he started working as a general assignment reporter and a weekend weather man for TV stations in such as Clarksburg and Wheeling West Virginia, before focusing on reporting for stations in Tallahassee Florida, Lexington and Louisville Kentucky and freelance reporting in Cincinnati Ohio.
In 2000, Marcus made the switch from working full-time on-air into the burgeoning segment of the industry called New Media, leading the launch of www.thelouisvillechannel.com.
Marcus is known for bringing a creative approach to the Web sites he's worked for, including creating two successful reality Web-TV contests in Indianapolis called The Indy Bachelorette and The Indy Bachelor.
Marcus' current position with NBC5 involves seeking partnerships and creating original content for NBC5.com Chicago and NBC's network of owned-and-operated stations. He's also responsible for exploring and utilizing New Media tools on NBC5.com and working to integrate old media with new.
He's the host and co-host of several NBC5 Podcasts, which won a Regional Emmy for Media Interactivity in 2005. He also won a Regional Emmy in 2007 for his online work on the Chicago Bears Super Bowl season.
Marcus is a contributer to Nude Hippo: Your Chicago Show and more recently for 24/7 Chicago: Secrets of the City, which airs Saturdays after SNL on NBC5.
